Simultaneous interpreting is a kind of interpreting which, with the use of interpreting equipment (headphones, microphone and a control panel in an interpreting booth), takes place simultaneously with speaker's speech. The speakers do not need to divide their speech into several parts in order to enable a piecemeal interpretation. They can deliver their speech without interruption. This type of interpreting is advantageous when time is a concern.

However, it is necessary that speakers be aware of the interpreter's presence and adjust the speed of their speech to this fact. The interpreter has to take in the source language text and communicate the message in target language nearly simultaneously. Inappropriate speed of speech incurring lack of time for interpretation puts the interpreter under time stress and, for obvious reasons, lessens the quality of interpreting. Such a situation is especially likely to occur  when speeches are being read. In such case we strongly advise our customers to supply the texts to be read to our agency in advance or at least to supply the texts to our interpreter before the beginning of the event.

Due to the challenging nature of simultaneous interpreting, it is always provided by two interpreters who take turns in the booth as often as they find appropriate but no later than after 20 minutes of interpreting.

Our agency does not supply interpreting equipment yet. It is thus necessary for customers to provide the equipment themselves. Regarding the standard, the size and ventilation, the interpreting booth should comply with the ISO 2603 (fixed booths) or ISO 4043 (mobile booths).
