Interpreting is an oral transmission of information from the source language into the target language. When interpreting, interpreters are challenged with a mental as well as physical burden. In order to achieve the best possible quality of the provided interpreting services, it is necessary that the customers be familiar with the nature of the chosen type of interpreting (consecutive, simultaneous, accompanying...) and with the working conditions that optimise the interpreter's performance.
An important part of every interpreting is the interpreter's terminological preparation. Customers can help increase the quality of the interpreting if they supply the following information to our agency in advance:
and other useful information that could help the interpreter prepare.
Technical conditions can make interpreter's task either easier or harder. It is necessary for the interpreter to see and hear the speaker well. Due to practical reasons it is also important that the visibility on place where the interpreter is supposed to sit or stand is good (e.g. if the interpreter chooses to take notes). It is advisable to bear these facts in mind when organising the event.
Customers should also not forget the physical needs of the interpreter. Organizers should provide the interpreter with unchilled table water and if the interpreting lasts longer than 3 hours, with food as well.
